"How to
Train Your
Stallion to a Phantom"

This
video will help you with the design of your breeding area, selecting a
phantom, and training your stallion to collect off a phantom.
By showing actual collections in different situations and by 8
different stallions, you will be able to determine what will work best
for your breeding operation. We will then take you from
start to finish while we train a stallion to a phantom. |

Our first phantoms didn't have cutouts and the stallions had to
twist their backs to get in to the AV or they tried to climb up the
phantom, trying to get comfortable, but they couldn't. They
usually got both feet hooked over the phantom or fell off the front.
Then we made our first cutout phantom, and I won't collect on
anything else. It is so much easier for the handler and the
stallion, as he can stay in line with the phantom as he breeds the
AV.
Later we added the cutout at the top as that is where his stomach
rests. I wanted it to conform to the stallions as much
as possible.
By holding the Artificial
Vagina yourself rather than the AV being built into the phantom you
gain the following benefits:
No semen spillage:
* You
have control of the AV so the semen doesn't drain out as
stallion withdraws. You can also slowly tilt the AV so the
semen gets to the collection bottle as soon as possible.
The less time it is in the AV the better. Ideally the
stallion should ejaculate into the other end of the AV, not
inside the AV itself.
No semen damage:
* Quicker release of water so semen doesn't get too hot.
* The quicker you can get the semen to the lab the better.
With the built in AV you have to have the stallion dismount
BEFORE you remove AV. By using our phantom the AV is
already with you. Rushing the stallion to dismount (so you
can get to the AV inside the phantom) is not
a reward for a job well done.
Safer for stallion:
* No risk of "missing" and getting hurt on AV opening.
If you are using a handheld AV you can move with him.
